Classic Family Game Vintage Rare Black Box
A fast paced board game for
two players or partner. Pente passes the traditional test of the classic game - it
is simple yet intriguing quick yet satisfying. Its objectives are to
win by getting five stones in a row or achieving five captures - mask a
fascinating game that grows in complexity with the skill and interest
of the players.
Game is complete with instructions, 38 each red/green glass stones, board, original instructions. Box shows mild rubbing, no splits, game pieces and board are all in great condition.
Pente was created in 1977 by Gary Gabrel. It is a changed version of the Japanese game of ninuki-renju, a variant of Gomoku played on a Go
board of 19 x 19 intersections with white and black stones. The major
difference is that Pente allows captures while renju and gomoku do not. This set is one of the first manufactured before he sold the rights to Parker Brothers in 1983.
